Biography
Hello, my name is Dr. Kimberly Barnes and I am an Acupuncture Physician, licensed in the state of Florida and board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Here in Florida we are considered primary care physicians and are required to be board certified in Herbs and Biomedicine as to provide our patients with the best in holistic primary care. I am the founder of Hidden Dragon Healing and I specialize in Acupuncture, Herbs, Cupping, Moxibustion, Massage, Qi Gong, Lifestyle Coaching and more! My goal is to improve the quality of life for my patients by coming up with protocols using a holistic approach that supports each individual. It is my belief that we all hold the power within to heal, sometimes it just needs to be awakened from a dormant state, this I refer to as “The Dragon”.
I first began studying holistic medicine in 2008 to provide natural remedies for my family. In 2012 I graduated with high honors from Everglades University and received my Bachelor of Science in Alternative Medicine. In 2013 I had a complicated pregnancy, which in Western Medicine there was no remedy. I was told I needed to have a c-section and be on bed rest. Right away I went to see an acupuncturist for a second opinion. After four treatments and an herbal remedy, I was cleared for a home-birth. In the process I had made a promise that if I could have my son at home, then I would continue further and go to school for acupuncture and herbal medicine.
I kept my promise and began my journey at Acupuncture and Massage College, the oldest acupuncture school in Florida. There I learned modalities that have been utilized for thousands of years, as well as modern biomedicine. I studied under doctors from China that truly understand wholeness and what it means to take a holistic approach. It is about bringing balance to the patient, rather than focusing on the dis-ease. Our bodies know how to heal, but if there is a disharmony or imbalance then dis-ease will persist.
My passion for herbs developed during my clinicals and I decided to try just about every herb we had on hand, it numbered in the hundreds. I wanted to know how they tasted, how they worked and how they work together, so there’s nothing I would give a patient that I haven’t already tried myself. In 2017 I graduated from AMC with a Masters in Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture and was recognized with the Herbal Achievement Award for my excellence and knowledge of prescribing herbs. Since then, I continue to study and refine my knowledge of herbs and oriental medicine in order to provide the best to my patients.
After being introduced to Wei Labs by a colleague, I was excited to see that the formulas they use are based on ancient Chinese formulas that have been proven to be effective over thousands of years. Yet, Wei Labs has taken a modern scientific approach in explaining the effectiveness of these herbs through their lab tests and studies which has allowed them to develop products and protocols that have had amazing results! Combining herbs is an artform and it takes a skilled herbalist to make a formula that functions in a way to support and enhance the remedy, this way the patient receives the greatest results. I believe that the doctors at Wei Labs have mastered this technique known as Dui Yao and I am honored to be able to recommend these remedies to my patients and have confidence in the efficacy and quality of the herbs.
